Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department received a report from the owner and an employee at I Am More Scarsdale on Spencer Place, when a suspect allegedly stole the purse on Friday, Feb. 8.
Police said that an employee said she saw a suspicious African American woman enter the store shortly after 3 p.m. wearing a black jacket, black pants, black boots and a black hat. The suspect then took a purse off the rack, placed it on her shoulder and walk out of the store without paying.
The woman was described as approximately 5-foot-7 with a medium build, black hair in a ponytail, in her 40s or 50s. The purse was brown and gold with a custom blue and purple elephant design on it with a black and purple strap. It had a value of $1,332.
Officers canvassed the area, but could not find the woman or the bag. The owner is expected to provide investigators with surveillance video with the store as the investigation continues. Check Daily Voice for updates.
